Came in well protected package, and was razor sharp. I have used it extensively in my yard cutting back cactus, banana trees, and large philodendrons. The only bad thing that ever occurred during use was that it cut so well I cut into stems that were beyond the target stem until I got used to the blades heft and cutting efficiency.

I love the design, the grip is awesome, too. But I was VERY DISAPPOINTED In the sharpness of the product when I received it. It was so dull it couldn't cut hot butter!!!!! I have purchased two of the pocket knives in the series you have out and the came very sharp. It's very hard to sharpen a machete yourself and I don'y feel I should have to pay to get it sharpened. Once it's sharp, I can keep it sharp. Sincerely, Marco Balletto

I got this machete last year and I have beat it to death, but it's still here. It sharpens up with ease after hours of abuse. The only thing I don't like about it is the rubber handle. I have smaller hands than most people and that rubber grip tore them to piece. I carved all the rubber off down to the bare orange plastic. It fits my hand better now. A skeleton version with a 550 cord wrap would be perfect. I'm just sayin...

I have had many machetes, but his one is the best yet ! I have showed it to 10 people, and they all want one.

I purchased this Machete new at Cabela's a few months ago. After 10 minutes of use the blade fell out of the handle! The thin part of the blade in the handle had broken. When looking at the break it is evident that the blade was broken when the handle assembly was installed. For now the rating is 1 Star. If Gerber replaces it under warrenty it is a 5 star. The ergonomics and balance are very good and the cutting inertia is great. The Nylon Sheath is excellent.

good balance. cuts small brush ok. with some hacking it will cut small limbs. sure and put your hand in the loop as it is a little hard to grip. if you loose it while hacking you might injure someone with the point. it is a little difficult to sharpen. had to use a file and grinder. hard to get in and out of the case so don't hang it on your belt. nice looking hanging on your wall.
this is a great machete, i love it. it worked well in my last camping trip while we were trekking through the woods. it was a good buy i highly recommend it

i haven't run into any trouble with this Parang, it has a good grip, a modern look, and a sharp blade... perfect to cut small branches.
