The Fire Starter contains everything you need to get a fire going--simply pull the unit apart. It features a ferrocerium rod and a metal striker, as well as a waterproof storage compartment to keep tinder dry.

A lanyard keeps each piece of the product secure while it's open, and has an integrated emergency whistle for quick access when you need it.

Lightweight Design for Easy Portability
Measuring 4-4/5 inches when closed, with a weight of 2-3/5 ounces, the Fire Starter fits neatly into a backpack or gear bag. It is a self-contained, waterproof unit that can be easily converted into a fire-starting kit by pulling the two ends apart.

Works like a dream
  Unlike most old-school firestarters, this badboy could actually start unintentional fires it puts out soo much spark. 100% recommended.

Great product. Works excellent.
  My son recently bought this fire starter and wanted to go try it out at the lake. I'm always game to get outdoors, so we went out to the lake and set up our area. He handed it to me (bless his heart, he got a new toy and he lets me play first) and I gave it a go. The fire sparked to life with only 2 strikes. I was blown away. Thanks Gerber, for another great product.

Senior Maintenance Tech
  Goin on an extended week long motorcycle adventure on the famous 'Twisted Sisters' Bike route in South Texas. The deoendable fire starter is a MUST have in the saddle bags for the 'just in case' situations that may very well arise.

Wild Outdoors
  The Bear Grylls Fire Starter is an excellent product. The design and function is great. An awesome tool to have in every bag or vehicle. This is a winner. I will likely buy several more for Christmas gifts. And for any of you bleeding heart liberals, aclu memebers or just plain spineless idiots, I said CHRISTMAS. Why? Because Christ is the reason for the season.

  My use for this is with my son in the Boy Scouts. So far so good. I really like having the extra knife in the handle. Fits in the backpack and splits kindling for fires great.
